Trimming background services
Went through everything running on this box and removed what wasn't being used. Fewer daemons means fewer things to patch and fewer things that can quietly start misbehaving at 3am.

Firewall changes, carefully
Any time I touch firewall rules on a remote box now, I keep a second SSH session open until I've confirmed a brand new connection still works. Cheap insurance against a typo that locks everyone out.
Why this page exists
Mostly so short notes don't end up scattered across random text files on my laptop. No comments, no analytics, just a place to write things down.
